Apartment Investment and Management Company (AIMCO) continues to harm renters.

by Francisco Da Costa
AIMCO continues to harm renters living in Bayview Hunters Point. AIMCO was bold enough to buy sell outs most Black and many NOT living in the community - then use them as ploys to beg for BONDS from the State of California - to rehab homes that were poorly built in the first place. Now, armed with $83 million plus - AIMCO continues to move renters - without proper notices - and treat them like dirt. Not paying workers for a day day's work - and most of them UNION too. Go figure.
Apartment Investment and Management Company (AIMCO) continue to give renters false notices and treat them like dirt. Daily, AIMCO breaks the laws of the State of California and the Nation.

Armed with over $83 million in BOND money from the State of California to fix home that were built with poor material in the first place - AIMCO is forcing people from their homes - giving them six and seven day notices.

Where have you heard of such nonsense before?

At AIMCO properties some 604 homes have been plagued with various serious issues - mildew, fungi, poor plumbing, leaking gas, paint peeling from walls, toilets flooding, water dripping through the wall during the rainy season - and so on and so forth.

The homes are built on top of the hill and have some of the best views in the City and County of San Francisco. However, most homes are plagued with issues that are detrimental to Quality of Life issues.

At one time the renters were told, many years ago - that the homes would be turned to them and they would all own the homes.

Today, the renters are fearful and do not know what to expect from AIMCO. AIMCO keeps posting notices and sending notices - forcing the renters to sign these notices.

Those that sign the notices mostly lose - the signing involves accepting some money a few thousands less then the $4500 renters are given in San Francisco as per the Rent Control - and then one thing leads to another and the people lose their opportunity to live in the AIMCO rental units.

In recent years AIMCO has been increasing the rent to Market Rate and has begun to put ads in various newspapers - touting that these rental units are the best ever. The truth is that this is not
true.

The renters are at their wits end - especially the disabled, the elders, and those that have lived in these rental homes and units for a long, long time - some for 30 years and more.

There is only one Renters' Association lined to one complex - AIMCO has done - all in its power to discouraging Renters' Associations.

High powered crooks in this City and involved with AIMCO - lead the pack the Democrats. AIMCO was able to get thousands of units all over the Nation - through the good office of Andrew Cuomo. Now, other local Democrats are backing AIMCO - hence their trip to Sacramento with local sell outs - mostly Black.

Arnold Townsend, Keith Jackson, Linda Richardson, Gary Banks - are some of those that are paid by AIMCO and have taken money from AIMCO.

Some renters have now gathered, hired good lawyers and will sue AIMCO.

This time around they will have the support of the MOVEMENT - thousands of us are ready to join these AIMCO renters - and we will shut the operation down.

Below are some photographs of homes with shoddy work done that you can see for yourself:
