More - DIY Last Night Parade Brings Community Together In the Streets

by Hiraeth

After months of "unplanning," the Last Night DIY Parade and Celebration took center stage on Pacific Avenue in Santa Cruz on December 31st, 2006. After the miserable year that was 2006, the event was a delightful counterpoint -- a truly joyful, creative and inspiring expression of community and the First Amendment.

The Pipe Band got things started with a march up Pacific Avenue. Their haunting melodies floated northward and the silence left in their wake provided a fitting tribute for the silent peace vigil that followed them.
