Back around 1972, our California Supreme Court
ruled that a publicly nude person must also be acting
or speaking "lewdly", in order to violate section 314
of the California state Penal Code (PC 314).

In other words, "nude" isn't inherently "lewd".

http://www.sfbotanicalgarden.org
http://www.conservatoryofflowers.org

Join us as we learn about the sacred role of plants and the plant-based rituals of Earth’s diverse cultures. Participate in the “Blessing of the Blooms” that will launch the day. Learn about shamanic uses of plants, join us in the Kava Lounge for inspired conversation and move to the sounds of Brazilian drummers.

PRESENTERS include:

Scientific Method Applied to World Trade Center Disaster: Nov 11th, UC Berkeley
http://sanfrancisco.tribe.net/listing/99dadece-65d0-4ea0-9076-5930a8ecbf21

The Lifting the Fog Conference will provide a focused, principled, and rigorous examination of the many unanswered questions surrounding the destruction of the World Trade Center skyscrapers. Using the extensive bodies of surviving evidence that document these events, Conference presenters will apply the time-tested scientific method to evaluate the evidence and theories of the destruction of the buildings.

In addition to tackling the controversial questions of what brought the skyscrapers down, the Conference will provide a session devoted to the developing story of the public health catastrophe of exposures to the Ground Zero environment. The fact that the EPA allowed politics to eclipse science in their issuance of false assurances that the air was safe to breathe is a sobering example of the fallacy of trusting official conclusions regarding highly charged political events being used to justify wars.

Screening of 9-11 The Myth and the Reality with Filmmaker, Ken Jenkins
Tuesday, November 14, 2006, at 7PM 909 - 12th Street, Sacramento
Ken Jenkins - activist, psychologist, and videographer - will present a new film that he produced and directed. The film is of two speeches that David Ray Griffin delivered earlier this year in the Bay Area
Dr. Griffin - author, lecturer, and Emeritus Professor of Philosophy of Religion and Theology - has written some of the most significant books on the subject of 9/11, and is regarded as an authority on this subject. This film of Dr. Griffin's talks - at the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco and the Grand Lake Theater in Oakland - is enhanced with numerous graphics and video clips. In the film, Dr. Griffin explains how the official story of 9/11 is a sacred myth. He then details nine commonly held myths about 9/11, and why each is false.
Ken Jenkins will give a short powerpoint presentation following the film, and host question and answer discussion.

A Special Lecture & Book Signing by Michael Greger, M.D.

Tuesday, December 5th at 7 p.m. Free Admission
Humanist Hall, 390 27th Street, Oakland

Topic: "Surviving the Next Pandemic: Bird Flu and Other Emerging Infectious Diseases"

Leading public health authorities now predict as inevitable a pandemic of influenza, triggered by bird flu and expected to lead to millions of deaths around the globe. The influenza virus has existed for millions of years as an innocuous intestinal virus of wild ducks. What turned a harmless waterborne duck virus into a killer? In an engaging multimedia presentation, Dr. Michael Greger traces the human role in the evolution of this virus. In the face of the coming pandemic, Dr. Greger reveals what we can do to protect our families and what human society to can do to reduce the likelihood of such potential catastrophes in the future.

Michael Greger, M.D., is a physician, author, and internationally recognized professional speaker on a number of important public health issues. What was"Rove's big surprise last election? Or any election? I can't think of one.

Big surprises are by definition, made on the Friday before election day. Because news coverage takes a break for the weekend, the target can't respond until election eve. E.g., the James Byrd of Jasper dragging story of 2004 or the Bush got a DUI revelation in 2000.

My bet for an "October surprise" is Sorros' CREW aren't finished with ex-congressman Foley. Any takers? Rich Martin
