Thousands Of Immigrants Turn Out In San Jose (link to video)
(CBS 5/BCN) SAN JOSE For second-generation immigrant Martin Herrera and his two daughters, the decision to boycott work and school Monday in support of millions of undocumented workers opposed to pending Congressional immigration legislation was a no-brainer.

Some of the hundreds of immigrant advocates who gathered in East San Jose in preparation for this afternoon's rally and march, which police estimate drew some 50,000 people, voiced similar concerns about the possibility of HR Bill 4437 regaining support.
About half of the businesses at Story and King roads had posted signs that explained in both English and Spanish that the stores would be closed today to show solidarity with immigrants. Workers at stores that remained open, including Valley Credit Union and T Mobile, said that by noon stores had noticed a significant drop in the number of customers.
"Oh, yes, we're definitely feeling it," an employer at Valley Credit Union said. A T Mobile employer added "It's definitely not working to our advantage."
