Does Mother Earth avenge chimps, civets, birds?

by TBL
What do AIDS and SARS have in common with the (possible future) pandemic of avian flu?
To the Bay Area Reporter:

An editorial cartoon from qsyndicate.com suggests
that AIDS may be a "warm-up act" for a possible avian flu pandemic.
[ B.A.R., 24 November 2005, page 6. ]

I think there's an ethical link between AIDS and SARS
and the (future?) human-to-human variety of avian flu (if such evolves).

Each disease organism originates among wild mammals
or wild birds;
then spreads to humans ---
because most humans eat meat.
AIDS began when humans slaughtered and ate
chimps and monkeys.
SARS resulted from humans eating
wild mammals, such as civets.
Bird flu spreads from wild birds to domestic birds, and thence to bird-eating humans.

In other words, humans (including vegetarians) pay dearly for the unethical practice
of killing and eating our warm-blooded cousins.
