Hugo Chávez Wanted To Bat For The SF Giants

In last Friday night's ABC Nightline with Ted Koppel, Venezuela's democratically elected president, Hugo Chávez, revealed that he wanted to play baseball for the San Francisco Giants when he was a youth. He goes on to reveal even more about himself. (Quite an interview.)

In the interview, Chávez guarantees that he will continue to provide oil to the United States so long as his country is not invaded. He reveals that the US has planned to do that (a plan called "Balboa").

He talks about his past, his military and revolutionary career-- and his Christian values. He also names his friends around the world-- and describes the government of the United States (led by Bush), as isolated by its aggressive and outlaw policies.

He speaks of alliances with major oil companies, and gives figures of oil usage and reserves (the US has 20 billion barrels of petroleum; Venezuela has 300 billion).

§Chavez underestimates US Imperialism

During the ABC interview with Ted Koppel, Chavez unintentionally(?) praised Clinton for treating Venezuela as an equal, whereas the Bush Regime is seen as the evil state terrorist that it truly is. Does Chavez really believe that the 'velvet glove' version of Imperialism under the Democrats is better for the World than the Iron Fist of the Bushed NeoCons?

After all, the Clinton imperialists launched the war to split up Yugoslavia via the dubious 'humanitarian' intervention, and Clinton launched cruise missiles to kill innocents in the Sudan pharmaceutical company as well as the CIA-constructed terrorist camps in Afghanistan. So which Imperialist face is better for the World, companero Hugo?
