Rally in the Valley for Peace and Justice

"Stop the War! It Affects Us All."

Peace Fresno and regional coalition of more than 40 peace and justice groups invite you to Rally in the Valley this Saturday, March 19, 2005, noon – 3:00 p.m. in the Fresno County Courthouse Park. Rain will not cancel.

Those of us who oppose the war in Iraq must stand up and be counted. At Rally in the Valley for Peace and Justice we will show our elected representatives and our neighbors that opposition to the war is present in our communities and in our region. On this second anniversary of the beginning of the bombing in Baghdad, our voices will be heard.

Green Machine, Augustin Lira and Patricia Wells Solarzano, and Frank Moschella will perform on a solar-powered stage. There will be children’s activities, food, and information booths.

Rally speakers:

  • Sean O'Neill, a decorated U.S. Marine who completed two tours of duty in Iraq, ending in July 2004, and who is now speaking out against the war
  • Nadia McCaffery, mother of Patrick McCaffery, who was killed in Iraq in June 2004
  • As'ad AbuKhalil, political science professor at CSU Stanislaus
  • Bob Kearney, Associate Director of the ACLU
  • Sabrina Worsham, high school sweetheart of Casey Sheehan who was killed in Iraq in April 2004

There will be simultaneous Spanish translation of the speeches.
