Another Flying Picket?

by gifford
Last Sunday's (10/10) Working Class Solidarity Flying Picket was a blast. Better yet, we got lots of thanks from picketing workers for our solidarity.
People I saw at today's (10/12) rally for the hotel workers at Union Square were eager to trying the Flying Picket again. Some of us thought maybe we could try to get a contingent to march downtown after this Friday's (10/15) grocery workers' rally at the Church and Market Safeway--which begins at 4:00 PM.

We thought we could converge again at Union Square around 7:00 PM, at the corner of Geary and Powell. Then we could try to visit some of the hotels we didn't get to last time, as well as revisit ones we were at on Sunday.

If we aren't able to mobilize folks on Friday, we definitely thought we'd have the Flying Picket again this Sunday (10/17) at 7:00 PM. Try to get the word out to friends and comrades. And bring more muscial instruments/noise makers--the drum on Sunday was great. Also bring your own signs and/or art supplies to make signs. .

Please post any suggestions, comments or other ideas.

Solidarity,

Might it be possible for us to stop traffic somewhere?

Here's something I took from another thread on the hotel workers' strike, but it's important--especially for the flying picket tomorrow. Also, check out the link for info on other strikes, like the huge one going on right now in Atlantic City.

The picketlines are at :

Argent Hotel (50 Third Street near Market)
Crowne Plaza Union Square (Sutter and Powell)
Fairmont Hotel (California and Mason)
Four Seasons (757 Market between 3rd and 4th Sts)
Grand Hyatt (345 Stockton at Sutter)
Hilton (333 O'Farrell at Mason)
Holiday Inn Civic Center (50 Eighth St at Market)
Holiday Inn Express at Fish Wharf (550 Northpoint)
Holiday Inn at Fish Wharf (1300 Columbus)
Hyatt Regency(Market at Embarcadero)
Mark Hopkins (California and Mason)
Omni San Francisco (500 California)
Sheraton Palace (Market and New Montgomery)
St. Francis (Powell and Geary)

Remember, striking ain't the only kind of action you can take. There's loads of others. Go Slows, Work-to-Rule, Mass Phone-in-Sick days etc are all other really good ways of hitting the bosses. That said, mainstream unions probably won't back you so it might be risky.
Good luck with your strike,

by calling all scabs $$$$$$$$$
you are in luck !

these hotels will hide you short term/ maybe long! if you look decent and show up for work. this is going to be a gold mind for all us unemployed high-tech workers. we need some fast money for rent food and to get us through to the next job

I have visions of them cleaning toilets and handling stained sheets! Sweet!

But it's too bad scabs starve the families of real working people.
We are 100% volunteer and depend on your participation to sustain our efforts!
