For Immediate Release

Los Angeles, California. The California Coalition for Immigrant Rights
and Against the Raids is organizing a massive Immigrant Rights March
and Rally to take place on October 16, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. We will
assemble on the southeast corner of Cesar Chavez and Lorena streets in East
Los Angeles; known as Cinco Puntos. A permit has already been obtained.

The Statewide March and Rally for Immigrant Rights will coincide with,
and commemorate the ten-year anniversary of the great march against
prop 187 in 1994, where over 125,000 people participated, and will follow
the historic route from ELA to City Hall.

The urgent purpose of this march is to stop the raids in immigrant
communities, and
demand equal rights for all immigrants through legalization, driver’s
licenses and to turn out the vote.

Some of the speakers will be: Maria Elena Durazo, President, HERE UNITE
Local 11, Angela Sanbrano, Executive Director CARECEN, Rosie Martinez,
Public Health Nurse Board Member SEIU Local 660 and Alejandro Stephens,
President SEIU Local 660, State Senator Gil Cedillo, Fernando Suarez
del Solar, father of Marine killed in Iraq, Nativo Lopez, President of
Hermandad Mexicana Latino Americana, Antonieta Villamil, Poet from
Columbian living in LA, and progressive rap group PR and Pantera.
