Photos from 6/9 Jail Support Rally in SF

People crowded the outside of 850 Bryant to demand the release of the activists who were arrested on June 8th at the anti-Biotech protests.

Fifty or so people gathered between 6:00 and 7:30pm on Wednesday to demand the release of the remaining protesters who were being held by the SF Sheriff's department.

Food and water were initially provided by Food Not Bombs, and some unknown very nice people (FNB as well?) also brought vegan sushi in a wagon.

A sound system blared largely danceable music, and, as it was a chilly evening, people took advantage of the festive atmosphere to dance.

The sheriffs eventually set up a barricade to make sure that the protesters, apparently in particular the RTC media team, would not storm the Hall of Justice.

At around 8:30, much of the crowd left to go to the police review commission meeting at City Hall. However, several supporters stayed through the night to wait, in case any of the prisoners were released.
§Cops can't get out, either

The first picture shows a police line drawn between the ground in front of the jail and the garden in front of the jail. The second one depicts part of a connected fence which clearly is meant to keep the cops in, not the supporters of the prisoners out.

People were encouraged to bring musical instruments and dress in colorful costumes, since the Biodiversity Ball had been moved to the 7th St. side of 850 Bryant.
