Campaign to have San Francisco Secede

So we've got this ballot initiative to have San Francisco secede from the US. It's registered with city hall, everything's legal, we just have to get 10,000 signatures in the next month and a half or so and it will go on the november ballot. If the majority approves it in november, San Francisco will legally and peacefully declare itself absolved of all allegiance to the United States, and the Board of Supervisors will be instructed to amend the city charter accordingly.

I'm organizing a group of people to canvas door-to-door all over the city in order to raise money and collect signatures. If you're down to put in some time, hit me up.

This is 100% serious. Our goal is to use the legal system to legally and peacefully secede from the US. The federal and state governments do not represent the people, so it's time for us to represent ourselves. This has an obvious bearing on all elements of struggle, from racial and economic justice issues to immigrant rights to environmental policy to gay rights to women's rights - this is something that will help all of us.
