please direct me to a place for debate....

by normal2
..
can somebody please tell me where to go on the internet for good political debate? i have a ton of stuff i want to discuss but can't find the right place to talk about it. i'm looking for some interactive site that isn't just for some specific political demographic but more about actual contending ideas. i don't know many forums so i am hoping some of you do. blogs or whatever are fine too - just as long as they are not too uniform politically.

please post a link or two here if you can help. thanks.

craigslist isn't affiliated with a perspective, and their forums have people discussing local and world politics.

i tried it out and it's super fast! there are tons of people on the craigslist forum but it's so speedy and the messages i saw were exclusively slapdash.

also the craigslist political forum is mainly white people with a lot of jewish/gentile bickering. it seems fairly even as far as dem/rep split. i'll keep checking it out. it's so fast!

anybody know any other forums out there? thanks.

Any online place where people dont have to use their real name will almost always turn into a flame war if its not heavilly moderated. There are probably some email groups one can ask to join where debate is better, but usually that means its either going to be people who know each other for some reason (academic debates among profs) or people who agree with each other already.

thanks again to 'blau' for pointing me to this sometimes amazing craigslist forum: http://forums.craigslist.org/login/?forumID=20

check it out - sometimes it's grim but at times it is really great - still uniformly white in general but otherwise good vigorous contending opinions, even gender diversity at times - which is very rare in online flame war prone spaces. a bit too fast, but amazing because of the volume.

any other good forums out there? (imcs tends to be pretty slow, grim, and appalling)

besides being fun i think these things (interactive forums, blogs etc) have very constructive potential politically and otherwise...
