Trade Justice Convergence: Organizing to STOP CAFTA coming to LA next weekend

by Anti-Globalization Activist
Trade Justice Convergence to build our Action, Skills and Knowledge to Make Trade Fair and Stop the Central American Free Trade Agreement.
Dear Student Activist,

Coming to an area near you…

Trade Justice Convergence: Organizing to STOP CAFTA

You are invited to visit http://www.tradeconference.org and register now to attend a regional training in your area and help build your knowledge, skills and actions to Make Trade Fair and Stop CAFTA!

WHERE and WHEN: Philadelphia, PA (March 12), Los Angeles, CA (March 27 -28), San Antonio, TX (April 3-4) and Ithaca, NY (April 3-4)

WHO: Students and others interested in taking a leadership role in protecting the environment, fighting poverty and promoting labor rights, food security, access to medicines, good jobs and democratic participation.

WHAT: Trade Justice Convergence to build our Action, Skills and Knowledge to Make Trade Fair and Stop the Central American Free Trade Agreement. Sponsored by Oxfam America, Global Justice, Sierra Student Coalition, United Students Against Sweatshops and United Students for Fair Trade.

WHY: On February 20th, 2004 Bush issued his intent to sign a Free Trade Agreement with Central America (CAFTA), threatening to push millions further into poverty, undermine rural development, indigenous rights, workers' rights, environmental rights, access to essential medicines, family farms, democracy, women, essential services, health care, and education. Congress will vote on the agreement as soon as June of 2004. By urging our representatives to Vote NO on CAFTA we can play a crucial rule in helping to protect the livelihoods of millions. We have no choice but to act!
