As part of the School of the Americas (SOA) Watch (http://www.soawatch. Org) annual protest, Sacramento activists Leisa Barnes and Elizabeth Bradley were arrested for trespassing in peaceful protest onto Ft. Benning the site of the SOA. The SOA is a combat training school whose graduates are consistently involved in human rights atrocities throughout Latin America. The fundraiser will feature Bay Area SOA Watch musicians and human rights activists, Francisco Herrera and John Fromer, as well as local (Sac) musicians. Proceeds of this concert will go to support the SOA Watch and towards Barnes’ & Bradley’s legal fees.
Barnes is a mother of 5 and co-founder of CSUS Campus Peace Action. Bradley is a mother and grandmother and organizer with Sacramento Peace Action. Both were fined $500 each for their action. Barnes received 3 mo. Prison time—Bradley is on probation.
