US Out of Americas - Kerry Too?

by Salvia Allende, et al (usoutamericas [at] lycos.com)
We ask all those opposed to the Iraq War, corporate globalization and the US maintaining military bases in 130 countries to demand answers from John Kerry – or forget all about elections.
Dear President-to-be John Kerry,

We are young people opposed to the war in Iraq, the US funding of Israeli terrorism against Palestine and Lebanon, and the drug war which is wasting enough money to solve most of the world’s problems.

We disagree with your position on the WTO and were dismayed to hear you say in the New Hampshire debates that the US needs two additional Army divisions. We would like to vote against the cowboy who occupies the US White House, but we don’t know if we can trust you.

Please consider our agenda and respond to these important issues:

We want the US to pull all of its troops, advisors, mercenaries and spies out of Latin America, Canada and the Caribbean. We want the debt owed to the US by countries in the Western Hemisphere to be cancelled. We want US corporations out of Latin America and we want US foreign aid to the region doubled and all of the aid distributed to grassroots rural poverty groups to support agrarian reform programs.

With the US – even under President Kerry – trapped in an endless quagmire of lies, mass murder and enemy-creation, the US needs all of the friends it can beg or buy.

At this time our focus is to expose the corruption and abuses related to US military and intelligence activities in Latin America. The situation in Ecuador with the US illegally occupying a naval and air base at Manta and the establishment of US bases and training stations near the Colombian border must be urgently addressed and challenged. The atrocities committed by US advisors and financing in Colombia under the guise of the Plan Colombia and Andean Initiative Drug Wars must be brought fully to the world’s attention. US threats and blackmail against Hugo Chavez in Venezuela and the leaders of the popular uprising in Bolivia cannot continue.

Will John Kerry resign the International Criminal Court treaty and bring the US back into the international community.

What about the Kyoto global warming treaty?

We have many more important issues that ought to be addressed by any candidate who expects progressives and youth to vote for him or her.

We ask all those opposed to the Iraq War, corporate globalization and the US maintaining military bases in 130 countries to demand answers from John Kerry – or forget all about elections.
