Iraq is NOT bush's Vietnam, but neo-cons' Stalingrad!
Many anti-war activists liken Chief Chickenhawk's Iraquagmire to LBJ's Vietnam. Aside from vast geographical differences, the analogy is too "far-fetched." But the better comparison may be with Hitler's Stalingrad debacle?
Alone as the superpower with the world's mightiest military killing machine, and feeling triumphant over its latest conquests, the warlords infesting the HQ of the Axis of Evil looked East with greedy & bloodthirsty eyes toward the vast oil fields in the East. With a lightning military strike(using its high-tech WMDs), and at the same time deposing a hated dictator who has murdered thousands of his own people, the fascist thugs ruling the world's #1 Imperailist power felt confident that the grabbing of the Eastern oil reserves would prove decisive in its pursuit of Global Domination. From the vantage point at the zenith of its Military Might, billions of barrels of oil & profits appeared to pour forth unceasingly for the forseeable future. But the Imperial Overreach soon became mired in the protracted urban slugfest that eventually proved to be the undoing of the Evil Empire.
