CBS and the Hypocritic Oath

by Liberez L'Ours
Scathing comments concerning CBS and its refusal to air MoveOn.org's commercial yet happily airing other items of questionable taste.
I didn't watch the Super Bowl yesterday,
preferring to watch lovely young witches
galloping about during TNT's "Charmed"
marathon.

For those who are unaware, "Charmed" is
Harry Potter for adults, mixed into a potent
brew of bewitching beauties and New Age mysticism.
The Literalist Genesis crowd and even right
thinking adults are no doubt gasping for air
at the very thought of an entire television
series devoted to witches...witches who live in
San Francisco...(as if they didn't grow up
watching "Bewitched", heh.)

I like watching the women. So shoot me,
fascist, chauvinist pig that I am.

Little did I know that I would be missing
J. Jackson's titty during the Superbowl,
and, as MSNBC put it, "Sexy and violent
commercials that included jokes about flatulence
and bestiality mercilessly interrupted the CBS
telecast of Super Bowl XXXVIII from Houston last
night, making it a dubious choice for family
viewing."

Makes you wonder. All that "morality" going
on at CBS combined with a sincere desire
to avoid controversy by airing "advocacy ads",
except of course, advocacy ads accusing pot
smokers of funding terrorism (wanna get down
to it, paying money to the IRS funds terrorism
but that is another story.)

So what the fuck? CBS couldn't give air time
to MoveOn.org's political ad about Reichlord
Bush's deficits? Not even for a million bucks
in payment? They're so moral that they couldn't
stoop and pick up a million dollar check
because they didn't want to offend anyone?

Hell with it. I'll stick with Phoebe, Prudence,
Piper, and Paige. It's just a tv show, for crying
out loud! And it doesn't pretend to be anything
but entertainment. No Pretensions. No hypocrisy.
Just nonsense and beautiful women. And that ain't
so bad, now is it?
