Cannabis Freedom Day in SF
PARTIAL report on Cannabis Freedom day celebration, 3 May 2003, in San Francisco (merely what one person experienced).
On Cannabis Freedom Day, 3 May 2003, I arrive unfashionably late at Civic Center Plaza in downtown San Francisco, wearing my usual mask, but with a faux-cannabis garland enhancing my usual sign.
Honoring National Masturbation Month, Butchered Hands (?) are playing "We Beat Our Meat".
California Assemblyman Mark Leno speaks eloquently about ongoing efforts to protect California's voter-approved medical cannabis law from federal interference.
The next band, Galaxxy Chamber*, feaures a lovely green-haired guitarist, dressed entirely in black and green. This costumed performing group seems to include dancers as well as musicians. The most spectacular dancer, a woman scantily clad in SM-style leather, gestures with several flaming torches, which are attached to her fingers.
After Galaxy, I drift over to a nearby dance area which offers what I loosely call "rave music" (since I can't distinguish between house, trance, etc.). For the next couple of hours I watch the dancers and display my sign (promoting Nude Freedom Day, July 4).
Then, just before 6pm, I notice the crowd forming into a march, so I scramble to catch up. We march a few blocks in a circle, winding up at the plaza again.

*(Note on Galaxxy ( Galaxy?) Chamber: I can't find their website; but a few photos may be seen at [http://www.flaminghot.com]. They will perform May 22 in SF at StudioZ.tv, with Gun And Doll Show, et alii.)

MORE INFO: Since this report is just a fragment, perhaps other attenders of this event could add more details? Or give links to other reports? Perhaps as comments?
