Lenni Brenner talks about how the Orthodox Jewish group Neturei Karta were even more anti-Zionist than the PLO. In 1981, when the PLO started making moves for a peaceful settlement to the conflict (two-state solution), Neturei Karta sent Lenni Brenner there to see if they were serious. If they were, they were actually planning to break contact with -- that's how principled their stance against Zionism is. As far as I know, they are for a one-state solution in which Jews and non-Jews live in a single state as equals -- like the South African solution to Apartheid.

What the little sliver of cut-and-paste ignores, of course, is that there are plenty of Orthodox religious parties in Israel, because there plenty of Orthodox Jews in Israel, and they have always formed one of the most important blocs in Zionist politics. If Wendy actually knew anything about Israel other than the fact that she hates-hates-hates it, she'd know that.

In fact, so many, that one of the big gainers in the most recent election was the single-issue party Shinui, which ran on the platform of _reducing_ the influence the ultra-Orthodox parties have in the Knesset.

Which pretty much blows a hole in Wendy's often-repeated-until-she-hopes-you-think-it's-true assertion that "_real_ Orthodox Judaism" is inherently anti-Zionist. There are plenty of _real_ Orthodox Jews who see no such contradiction, and Windy Wendy is certainly in no place to decree whose Orthodox is more "real."
