Dear Colleagues,

How many times have you read or heard an English-language commercial news
correspondent from Venezuela cite "polls" in their arguments that President
Hugo Chávez is an unpopular leader?

How many times have they withheld from you the source of their "polling
data"?

Justin Delacour wrote to those correspondents - T. Christian Miller of the
LA Times, freelance correspondent Phil Gunson, Alexandra Olson of Associated
Press, Juan Tamayo of the Miami Herald, and others - and asked them about
the "polls" cited from Venezuela: Who took the polls?

The answers that came back are so revealing and explosive that Delacour
brought them to the attention of Narco News. We urged him to write the
story.

Delacour found that the two Venezuela pollsters who the commercial
correspondents claim are the "credible" sources of polling data are, in
fact, violently partisan anti-Chávez propagandists, and it's all on the
public record. One pollster - José Antonio Gil Yepes of Datanalisis -says
that Chávez "has to be killed." The other - Alfredo Keller of Keller y
Asociados - calls the struggle against Chávez "a fight to the death."

Delacour also spoke with international polling experts and found that the
methodology used by these polling companies is itself biased in the ways it
undercounts the opinions of Venezuela's 60 percent poor majority.

Once again, the commercial media in Venezuela and correspondents from other
countries are caught misleading you intentionally. Read the facts, with
links and devastating evidence, at:

Venezuela's oil coup-strike-lockout for the rich. Help President Chavez!

In 1974 80% of oil income went to the state. Today 80% of Venezuelan oil income goes to the rich, and to "operating costs." Only 20% goes to the state. Chavez reforms will help reverse this in 2003. This is why the coup-plotters are in such a hurry to overthrow the fairly-ELECTED Chavez government, to prevent these reforms, and to reverse others already-implemented. Reforms that help the poor and lower middle class. Massive corporate-media disinformation, destabilization campaign going on inside Venezuela. Support President Chavez! Progressive news search form, news sites, search shortcuts, and compilation of Venezuela news excerpts.
