CONVICT THE RIDERS!!
Let's make some noise and tell them we want these thugs behind bars!!
The 'Oakland Riders' are standing trial for committing heinous crimes against African people of West Oakland. With ex-OPD Francisco Vazquez on the lam, the three others - Clarence Mabanag, Jude Siapno and Matthew Hornung - have been accused of beating so-called suspects, falsifying documents, planting evidence and running roughshod over black peoples' rights.
This is an opportunity to get at the core of the rampant brutality against African and oppressed people in Oakland at the hands of the police.
Given guns and badges by the city of Oakland, we know that the 'Riders' are not some kind of aberration, but represent the Oakland policy of
police containment of the African and oppressed
communities. Recent events have connected OPD with drugs and prostitution, a fact that is generally known inside the African community.
DEFEAT MEASURE FF!
With this level of police brutality and corruption inside Oakland Police Department, the city has the audacity and the arrogance to put a measure on the ballot for monies for 100 more officers. Let's defeat this
measure soundly and use the campaign to defeat it to
call
Let's build larger and larger protests and pressure for a conviction of the 'Riders' and build a real movement to demand real for real economic development that will bring small businesses, jobs and services to the flatlands of Oakland!!
Sponsored by the International People's Democratic Uhuru Movement (InPDUM). InPDUM organizes around the question of democratic rights for African people, and the understanding that self-determination is the highest expression of Democracy. InPDUM is open to people of all nationalities who want to join this fight for the rights of African people to have freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, freedom to live without the constant threat of police violence, and the right to access to adequate food, shelter and clothing. These rights are being violated against African people on a daily basis, worldwide
