To give another example, if I were to come to your house and poke your eye out - I am "defending" myself against a potential terrorist- you. Because I am American, I am justified in doing this. If you so much as bitch and complain with some sissy complaint such as "boo-hoo, I can't see" - then perhaps you should look a little harder at the rules and regulations that prevent blind people from bitching and moaning or taking any form of retaliation.

Only one big flaw with that argument. Israel is not the Palestinian's home. That's why it's called "Israel" and not Palestine! Violence worked for the American revolutionaries. Worked for the allies against the Nazi's. Worked for Bangladesh. China is relatively peaceful. Vietnam is peaceful now. Russia is peaceful. Most of the countries involved in the two World Wars are now peaceful. Hell, Israel (founded by extreme violence) has been mostly peaceful, with "violent" zones being isolated, for most of its existance.

The world does not revolve around your idiotic conception of peace vs. violence. Even Gandhi realized his notions were incorrect as Indian independence unfolded.

Political and social change has always been integral with violence, that's life. The next time your parents and siblings are murdered by IDF soldiers, we'll see how peaceful you are you stupid piece of shit.

I spent 3 weeks in Isreal/Palestine and I have never seen such blatent racism as Isrealis Jews towards Palestinian Arabs. It was disgusting. It felt like South Africa during Aparthied.

The problem seems to stem from the fact that many Jews in Isreal think they are truly better human beings than Arabs, that they are God's "Choosen people". Think about it. This is very similiar to Hitlers Arayan Supremacy ideology and just as scary.

I just hope the Peaceful, non-racist, Isreali Jews (yes there are some) stand up against this new wave of fanatical, pro-Sharon fascism. And I hope peaceful, non-racist Americans stand up against US military funding of this new Isreali facism.

I think you messed up the analogy. True: Israel is not Palestine's home. It's the other way around. Israel was given a home in Palestine. Before Israel? It was all Palestine. The so-called "Land for people for people without a land" is one convenient phrase to make you forget that there were people on that land! Palestinians - Arab, Jewish, Christian - PALESTINIANS.

Now even though Israel with the help of your tax dollars and mine can afford to defend themselves in an extremely offensive way, they were not given the red carpet treatment by the Palestinians.

More good news. Not every Israeli is Ariel Sharon. Just like every American is not George W. Bush. There are plenty of folk in Palestine and Israel who would be happy to share Jersusalem. But those in politics would rather we think otherwise.

Last I heard, Arafat would be fine taking back the pre-1967 borders. The Israeli occupation is illegal, for one. But that doesn't matter so long as the U.S. is on your side. There would be suicide bombings, but probably a lot fewer. Do you ever notice that there are no Israeli suicide bombers? No Israeli is willing to give their life to the occupation's cause. But they're sure happy to sit in a tank and roll over houses and cars. Shit, lots of times they don't even see who they're killing. What heroes! Palestinians, on the other hand, who have very little to lose since so much has been taken from them, would rather take their own lives along with someone else's than be alive during the occupation.

Naturally I don't accept any form of killing as acceptable, but it takes different kinds of people to kill different ways. And you have to be pretty low and depressed to kill yourself for a cause. The situation must be abominable if people are blowing themselves up along with their "enemies".

What Eric seems to forget is how tilted the tables are in favor of Israel. Or at least he's told to forget that. That you have to pick one side - Israel or Palestine. You don't. You can be on neither side. I am. But the cruel evidence of this occupation is clear and if you're going to treat the symptoms of it, and not getting to the root of the problem - you're going to be dealing with suicide bombers for a long, long, long time.
