Cal County Votes for Medical Marijuana

by California voter
Talk about going against the tide of history: George War Bush's drug policy has sunk to the depths of the absurd in the raids on the pot clubs of California on Lincoln's Birthday, February 12, 2002, when state offices were closed and when Bush's "drug war" lackey, Asa Hutchinson showed up to speak at the San Francisco business organization meeting of the Commonwealth Club. His only friends in California are Democrats Gov. Gray Davis and Senator Dianne Feinstein, who opposed Proposition 215.

A good look at the vote on California's Proposition 215 of November 1996, the medical marijuana initiative which passed with 56% or 5.3 million votes, demonstrates how reactionary this latest turning back of the clock on the part of the profoundly stupid War Bush is. A map of the results is at:
http://vote96.ss.ca.gov/Vote96/html/vote/prop/prop-215.961218083528.html

Th honor roll of counties that passed Proposition 215 goes from the more advanced San Francisco, with 78% of the vote to the conservative San Diego County with 52% and Orange County with 51%. The medical doctors are big supporters of medical marijuana, and they are usually a very conservative voting sector. The voters overall are the most conservative sector of the population so War Bush is almost playing solo here. About the only friends he has in California are those good Democrats Governor Gray Davis and Senator Dianne Feinstein, both of whom opposed Prop. 215. Now for the honor roll:

78% San Francisco
74% Santa Cruz
73% Marin

Where is your proof that Davis supports the DEA action?
by California Voter
Gray Davis, as Democratic Lieutenant Governor of California in 1996, opposed Proposition 215, as did Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein and many Clinton administration officials, including former Pres. Bill Clinton. The San Francisco Chronicle reported these facts on the day after the election, November 6, 1996, in an article by Edward Epstein, "Medicinal Pot Initiative Rolls to An Easy Victory," as follows:

"Passage of Proposition 215 will put the leading possible candidates for governor in 1998 in a quandary, because most of them -- Republican Lungren and Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein and Lieutenant Governor Gray Davis -- have opposed the measure. A rumored fourth candidate, White House Chief of Staff Leon Panetta, has not taken a public position on the initiative, but a host of Clinton administration officials from the president on down have spoken against it."

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, stop voting for the Democrat-Republicans. Voting for the "lesser" evil is a vote for evil. Always vote your hopes, not yours fears. You will feel much better and humanity will advance. Always make a list of issues that are important to you and if there is no candidate who supports your position on ALL issues, skip that position(s) and just vote on the propositions. It is important that you vote on the propositions in every election.
