Anti-war protesters rallied at the Fall Military Showcase, a military recruitment day at Fresno City College, on Wednesday, October 24th. About 20 protesters participated. A student group used street theater to protest, dressing as injured soldiers carrying a flag draped coffin into the center of the circle where the military recruiters had booths displaying HumVees and a large model fighter jet.

On Thursday, October 25th, a group of students including Arab students protested against the war at California State University Fresno.

On Friday, October 26th another street protest was held at Blackstone and Shaw avenues with approximately 25 people carrying anti-war signs and flashing peace signs to passing motorists.

Street protests will continue at Blackstone and Shaw every Friday starting at 4:30 PM. The CSUF peace group is holding organizing meetings every Monday at 6:30 PM in the Social Sciences Building room 205B. Anti-war organizing meetings are held every Tuesday at 6:30 PM at the Fresno Center for Non-Violence (559-237-3223). The Student Action Front also meets every Tuesday evening. A “War on Terrorism Forum” is held every Friday at 3:00 PM at Fresno City College in Forum Hall 10, contact Rod Gaudin 442-4600 ext. 8349.

Upcoming events include a forum called “Talk Radio and Hate Crime: Is There a Connection?” on November 15th at 7:30 PM in the Fresno City College theater. The CSUF Peace Group is also planning a series of teach-ins with dates and times to be announced.
