Fresnos emergency response to U.S. attacks on Afghanistan
Over 50 turn out for peace demonstration at the start of U.S. attacks on Afghanistan
Over 50 people came to the busiest intersection in Fresno today (Sunday, October 7) to protest the U.S. bombing of Afghanistan. With American flags and signs saying "United Against War" the protestors came out on the first day of air strikes to call for peace and an end to the war. Most of the local media covered the event with at least one TV station giving live coverage. Pro peace demonstrators outnumbered a small group of pro-war protestors by 6 or 7 to one. Peace demonstrators will gather at Shaw and Blackstone every Friday until the crisis is over. For an up to the minute listing of all Peace actions in the Fresno area call the Fresno Center for Nonviolence at 559-23PEACE (559-237-3223) and press *3.
