West Coast Hip-Hop Set Up Against the War

by reposting madness
hip-hop shit going on right now is poised to make a powerful statement against the insanity going on ... the coup, master p, public enemy, helll yeah, fuck the war!!
Oh man, The Coup are gonna be shit on big time for this! The album is supposed to drop this coming Tuesday, who knows how long it's gonna be postponed. It's on Del's label, which I think is called 75 Ark or something like that. As for the people who got advanced promo copies, holy shit that vinyl is gonna be priceless!!!!!!!! No doubt.

Well basically the cover artwork on the new Coup album, "Party Music" (the album title is a reference to "fans" of the Coup constantly complaning that their political agenda overshadows their bumping beats and rhyming skills, unfortunately I think The Coup took the album title a little too far, too seriously) features Pam the Funkstress (the DJ for The Coup) posing as a conductor standing in front of the World Trade Center with Boots gripping
a detonator ready to blow it all up. Obviously the records artwork (which was designed over two months ago) was supposed to represent the abolishment of capitalism.

Wow, I imagine Boots, E-Roc and Pam are in a world of shit right now, probably be questioned day and night.

So yeah, cop that shit, artwork or not. Features Dead Prez on the track "Get Up" and more impressive tracks with names like "Ghetto Manifesto," "Pork and Beef," and "Tight". Not NEARLY (i have to stress that it's nowhere near as good as their previous stuff, with no song titles like "5 Million Ways to Kill a CEO" or "Me and Jesus the Pimp in a '79 Grenada Last NIght") as good as their first album, Kill My Landlord, but still, it's the fucking Coup!

I can tell this is gonna be a dope year for hiphop. The new PE is gonna be off the hook. With their new label Slam Jamz Chuck D has done something that no other group has EVER done before. They uploaded a bunch of acapella's to their website for people to download, and then people put their own beats to the track and uploaded them back to PE. PE then selected their favourite tracks. So basically, it's truly MUSIC FOR THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE!

Then there is the new Dead Prez, which I think is gonna suck big time, but like with the Coup, it's Dead Prez. And the new Gravediggaz should be interesting as it was finished just before the Grym Reaper passed away, plus no Rzarectar..hmm...
