Resolution documenting Henry Kissinger's record of criminal actions perpetrated against civilians throughout the world.

WHEREAS, San Francisco has a long history of support for victims of those seeking refuge from state violence abroad; and

WHEREAS, Henry Kissinger actively took part in the destabilization of the democratically elected government of former Chilean leader Salvador Allende; and

WHEREAS, Henry Kissinger covered up atrocities in Chile and gave comfort to the regime of General Pinochet; and

WHEREAS, Henry Kissinger met with Indonesian dictator Suharto shortly before the invasion of East Timor, and, with former President Ford, approved the invasion though it was in clear violation of U.S. law;

WHEREAS, After the fact, Henry Kissinger conspires to cover up the illegal occupation, over two decades of a military campaign that killed more than 200,000 East Timorese, one third of the pre-invasion population; and

WHEREAS, Henry Kissinger helped direct the illegal Vietnam war-era bombing of Cambodia and Laos, which killed an estimated 350,000 civilians in Laos and 600,000 in Cambodia; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Board of Supervisors of the City and County of San Francisco documents Henry Kissinger's record of criminal actions perpetrated against civilians throughout the world.
