Dump Bush! Petition: Supreme Court
Supreme Court judges should have recused themselves due to conflict of interest (relatives working for Bush campaign, etc.) Sign petition to US Congress!
I heard the man who drew up this petition on Flashpoints yesterday; he was young, passionately and seriously optimistic, articulate, and v.
persuasive.

PETITION TO:
THE UNITED STATES CONGRESS
We the undersigned hereby declare our belief in the principle that a democratic government's authority to govern resides in the freely given consent of it's citizens. This consent is given only after the lawful completion of the election process and democracy has been seen to be done.
This truth we hold to be self evident.
Since democracy has not been seen to be done and the true and final result of the Florida vote in the recent presidential election is not yet known, as the Supreme Court acknowledges, we feel that we, as citizens of these United States, are unable to grant our authority and consent to the appointment of candidate George Bush as president. We also feel. that the blatant violation of United States Code Section 455 (governing the recusal of judges from presiding over hearings where there is a perceived conflict of interest) on the part of Justices Scalia and Thomas is unacceptable and nullifies the recent Supreme Court decision relating to the Florida vote count.
We therefore formally notify the United States Congress that we refuse to acknowledge candidate George Bush as the lawfully elected President of the United States and demand:
1. A properly regulated and complete hand count of the presidential vote in Florida in accordance with an agreed standard as determined by the Florida Supreme Court.
2. The immediate resignation from the Supreme Court of Justices Scalia and Thomas.
3. The immediate freezing of all judicial appointments until such time as a President is lawfully elected.
