The LAB is proud to host ...
All We Want for Christmas is Our Redstone Building!
... a performance benefit,
on Tuesday, December 19 at 8 PM,
2948 16th Street at Capp.
Admission is $7 to $100 sliding scale.
The performance lineup includes:
spoken word artists Beth Lisick, Jime Salcedo-Malo, Michelle Tea, James Tracy and Peter Plate; music by Pamela Z, Dr. Friendly's Fractal Circus, DM Feelings and the Grid, members of Las Cucas, and the San Francisco Labor Chorus; a new video presentation by Video Activist Network (VAN); and a presentation by the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. In addition, Walter Johnson of the San Francisco Labor Council, Renee Saucedo of the Mission Anti-Displacement Coalition, and San Francisco District 6 Supervisor Chris Daly have been invited to speak at the event.
Proceeds from this event will go towards the Redstone Tenants' Association. A diverse group of tenants of the Mission District's Redstone Building are organizing with the goal of securing the building as a center for the arts, social service and activism. A jewel in the Mission, the Redstone is located at the northeast corner of 16th and Capp Streets, and was originally constructed in 1914 by the San Francisco Labor Council to house labor union offices and the Temple of Labor, the Labor Council's meeting hall. In 1968, the Labor Council sold the building; rechristened the Redstone Building, it has been the home to numerous non-profit arts and service organizations ever since.
For more information on the benefit or the building, call Elisabeth Beaird at The LAB at (415) 864-8855.
-- The Redstone Building is also home to members of the Video Activist Network! Please come out and help us keep our home!
