100 arrests today. N16 TABD. PHOTOS, audio, VIDEOS. Brutality in Cincinnati Ohio

N16 TABD. Many LINKS. TransAtlantic Business Dialogue protests in Cincinnati, Ohio, November 15-18, 2000. 100 Protesters Arrested today, Saturday, November 18. PHOTOS, audio, VIDEOS. Appropriate that Cincinnati is finishing up its months of "Pig Gig" celebrations. Cincinnati is historically known as "porkopolis" from its hog processing history. In the last 2 weeks 2 African-Americans have been killed by the police, one from asphyxiation during his arrest. A particularly brutal arrest of an N16-protester was similar in style. Beanbag shotgun rounds have been used indiscriminately. These rounds break car windows.

N16 TABD. 100 Protesters Arrested today, Saturday, November 18, 2000 in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA, "the land of the free." Cincinnati is finishing up its months of "Pig Gig" celebrations because Cincinnati is historically known as "porkopolis" from its hog slaughtering and processing history. But in the last 2 weeks 2 African-Americans have been killed by the police, one under suspicious circumstances, from asphyxiation during his arrest. A particularly brutal N16-protester arrest was similar in style to the arrest that killed the black man. Was the N16 training of the police the cause of both of these very violent arrests? And why was no medical help offered in a timely way by the police in both instances? There is much video footage of beanbag shotgun rounds being used indiscriminately against N16 protesters. These rounds hit with enough force to break car windows, and did so during the N16 protests. International journalists in Cincinnati have remarked on the disrespect by police of N16 protesters\' rights in many ways. So the porkopolis moniker fits for many reasons. Article says "call the jail at 513-946-6100 and demand that all protesters be released unconditionally."

Sat Nov 18 22:00:36 2000 -- 100 Protesters Arrested Nov 18 2000 Chris Lugo.
http://ohiovalleyimc.org/cgi-bin/adisplay.pl?which=news/165

N16 Legal has just informed us at IMC that 100 Protesters have been arrested today. They are being held at Municipal County Jail 1000 Sycamoure in downtown Cincinnati. N16 Legal has asked that we call the jail at 513-946-6100 and demand that all protesters be released unconditionally. Reports have come across that protesters have been refused water , have had their charges changed as many as four times and even denied medication.

A vigil began tonight at 9pm at the courthouse and will continue through the evening to harrass the jail and express solidarity with the protesters.

One protester, Eliza Cohen, is being held on $400,000 bond and charged with two felonies.

A Legal fund has been set up to help get protesters out of jail. Funds can be sent to

N16 Legal 2352 Wheeler Cincinnati Ohio 45219

A permanent site will be set up on Monday for wiring funds for bail. Estimates are that bail needed to be raised for yesterdays arrests is about $7200. Today it will probably be upwards of $20,000.

Arraignment is set for Monday so protesters are probably being held through the weekend unless bailed out.
