Nations Plaza to ask our regional director to reschedule marijuana.
Dear friends,
Over 150 patients, families, neighbors and activists gathered yesterday at 50 United
Nations Plaza to ask our regional director to reschedule marijuana.
Everyone felt good about our noble task. The sky was overcast and we were surrounded
by the Farmer's market. Where else could you protest injustice and buy fresh
produce at the same time? God, I love San Francisco.
35 patients wore red condition shirts with things like "AIDS", "CANCER" AND
"CONFIDENTIAL" written on them. Patients are so clever!
And the speakers were phenomenal!
Caren Woodsen- ASA campaign coordinator
Frank Lucido, M.D.-Medboard Watch
Jahan Marcu-CPMC researcher
Barbara McKenzie- Steve McWilliam's partner
Michael Alcalay M.D.-Longtime advocate for all things good
Don Duncan- my mentor, ASA board member, BPG and LAPCG
Tony Bowles- Core ASA SF member, President of the California Marijuana Party
Shona G.- Core ASA SF member, Women's Group Coordinator
Lynnet Shaw-longtime activist and MCD operator
Randi- San Francisco hard-core activist and MCD "dutchess"
Bill Britt-Orange County in the house! Long time activist and leader
Jose- Radio personality/ longtime minority rights activist/ Sonoma ASA Core Member
John Dupont-Veteran's Cannabis Action Network
My new Friend- Founded 2nd MCD in California!
Richard Kern-So Cal activist
Michelle Aldrich- long-tme activist
Lovely Nurse R.N. -Retired from Armed forces. Most compelling speach of the hour
Mira-Steve McWilliam's patient, Orange County and SF activist
Starchild- Libretarian Party
(Sorry, I'm a patient and I forget names),
At several points throughout the event
Caren Woodsen and Frank Lucido went up to the Health and Human Services building and
actually met with the Regional Director!
Afterwards, the bus pulled out and left with our beloved So Cal activists headed for
home.
When all was said and done, Sarah Shrader and I went to visit a lovely lady Mary
named in the ICU. This amazing woman collected 300 petitions in a weekend by
heself with limited eyesight and mobility, and she is my current hero. If you have a
moment, please send her a prayer.
Thank you so very much for caring about this issue.
TIME'S UP
CUT THE RED TAPE
