Transgender Awareness Day and Resource Fair
Wednesday November 17, 2004
11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
CCSF Student Union
50 Phelan Avenue
San Francisco
The goal for this event is to provide information, support, and camaraderie to members of Transgender communities on the City College campus and city-wide, as well as to reach out to those who may have less awareness with issues of gender identity and _expression.
Featured at the event will be:
v Dynamic speakers program at 12 noon
o Cecelia Chung Commissioner, S.F. Human Rights Commission
o Gwen Smith Founder, Transgender Day of Remembrance,
o Marcus Arana Discrimination Investigator, S.F. Human Rights Commission, CCSF student
o Janetta Louise Johnson Walden House/Transgender Recovery counselor, community activist & CCSF student
o Representatives from CCSF
v The unveiling of our Transgender Timeline, a joint project of CCSF Transgender VOICES, Transgender RIGHTS, Graphics Communication Department, and the Office of Mentoring & Service Learning
v Build community "Altar of Empowerment and Remembrance" bring an item for altar
v Gallery of city-wide resources and services - Transgender Law Center, TRANS, Human Rights Commission, Instituto Familiar de la Raza, Filipino Task Force, Walden House, Transgender Life Care, Glide Memorial Church, Tranny Talk TV, API Wellness Center, StopAIDS, AND MANY OTHERS.
v Beauty and Fashion Consultations - Oui Three Queens
This event is hosted by Transgender VOICES, Transgender RIGHTS, a student-led project of the HIV/STI Education Office of CCSF, and TG@CCSF, student club. Co-sponsors include Project SURVIVE and Project SAFE, the Women's Resource Center, and the Queer Alliance.
