Renée Golder: What a Republican Landlord will do to get Elected to the Santa Cruz City Council
by Santa Cruz News Network
In crafting her image as a recall replacement candidate for Santa Cruz City Council, Renée Golder has lied to the public and left out important information about who she really is. Voting records show Golder was a registered Republican until April of 2018, but when she has been asked about it there are at least two different stories she has given. One is that her mother registered her as a Republican shortly after high school, and she didn't notice; the other is that she is a "life-long Democrat," which has frustrated community members because voting records are public and accessible. (see photo) Golder has carefully crafted her image to omit any reference to her experience being a landlord who owns multiple properties. Additionally, Golder has given conflicting answers regarding her political position on the recall, and has admitted to gathering signatures for the recall petition drive, yet she claims she was not formally involved with the campaign. Many of the same real estate interests funding the recall have also bankrolled Golder's campaign.
