June 19 is the birthday anniversary of Jose Rizal, the national hero of the Philippines. But few know that Rizal traversed the US on the way to Europe in 1888. You will find two pages of his trip mentioned in the old account of Austin Craig's biography and Rafael Palma's The Pride of the Malay Race.
