Reviews: Submission as Freedom. Life in Neoliberalism
The challenge of neoliberalism took an offensive form in the global North with the victories of Reagan and Thatcher. No coop and no dictatorship were needed to gain mass support for the political ideological hegemony. A neoliberal morality was implemented connected with market conformity, adjustment readiness, self-discipline and active, competitive, entrepreneurial and egoistic life praxis. Stagnation, unemployment and futurelessness demand counter-measures. Is the market self-healing? What kind of society do we want? Do we accept the New Deal? Are financial markets efficient? Should the Universal Happiness Index supplement the GDP? Is competition an elixir or a false anthropology leading to narcissism?
