Organizations to Launch Santa Cruz Redwoods National Monument Campaign in February
Groups supporting the establishment a Redwoods National Monument in the Santa Cruz Mountains will kick-off their campaign on Thursday, February 12, featuring former Secretary of the Interior, Bruce Babbitt, at the Kaiser Permanente Arena in Santa Cruz. Organizations hope to encourage President Obama to designate 5800 acres of Coast Dairies property, North of Wilder Ranch State Park, and South of Swanton, into a permanently protected and publicly accessible National Monument. Representatives of the Bureau of Land Management, other California communities that have recently established National Monuments, and members of the local campaign Community Advisory Committee will also be speaking at the kick-off event.
