Dept of Toxic Substances Control Fact Sheet: LBNL/UC Berkeley VOCs
Dial B For Bevatron
The Department of Toxic Substances Control quietly released a public notice regarding "relatively high concentrations of Volatile Organic Compounds" (VOCs) from the site of LBNL/UC Berkeley's Building 51, which formerly housed the Bevatron particle accelerator. These VOCs have leeched into the groundwater. At this point, there is no open public meeting on the issue; the DTSC is only taking written public comments. Mail must be postmarked by June 7th, and emails must be sent before 5PM June 7th. Contact: Jacinto Soto DTSC Project Manager 700 Heinz Avenue Berkeley, CA 94710 Call (510) 540-3842 or email
