Add comment on:Project Homeless Disconnect: Shelter Run Around Part 8
a TG person
So I am once again homeless. 5th time in my life, 3rd time this year alone. San Francisco has this thing called Project Homeless Connect. I needed shelter tonight November 27th after losing yet another job. Project Homeless connect referred me to a Dept. called Everyday Connect. They told me to go too Glide Memorial between the hours of 4pm and 7pm, so I did. After wading through the Tenderloin I was told by the tall African American fellow. "We have no shelter tickets" available. So I called Everyday Connect back, so they told me to go too St. Marks Lutheran Church at 1031 Franklin street, but when I arrived low and behold it was a men's only shelter, and the stand by list was full. I am a male to female transgender person. That fact was communicated repeatedly to the lady at Everyday connect. So I had to walk from the Tenderloin to Franklin street really fast because allegedly time was of the essence. So here it is 5:56pm and I did not get shelter and will be sleeping in my car. San Francisco has been flaunted and described as the place to go for transgender people to get help, guaranteed offerings of opportunity by many politicians including the Mayors, but I am here to tell you it's all BS, and what awaits is pure misery, lies, and mistreatment.
