Just as myself and videographer Jacob Crawford were stopped by a Hillsborough County sheriff's deputy and a Tampa police officer on the previous night with a demand to see identification beyond our press credentials (see report and video), two videographers from Texas were detained on Day One by DHS officers near the north side of the security "Event Zone." They were told that if they did not produce state-issued identification that they would be held for 72 hours, essentially removing them from the streets for the duration of the Republican National Convention. The videographers, Andrew Bittner and Derrick Broze of the Houston Free Thinkers, agreed to an interview immediately upon their release (full video below).
