On 08.18.2012, two days after the final San Francisco Ethics Commission hearing regarding Mayor Ed Lee's suspension of her husband, elected Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi, and Lee's attempt to have him permanently removed from office. Lopez has stood by her husband and steadfastly insisted that he did not abuse her. The decision as to whether Mirkarimi will be removed or reinstated is now up to the Board of Supervisors.
