Add comment on:Occupy Oakland General Strike - Banks Smashed Up in Afternoon, 11/2/11: photos, 2 of 2
At 2pm on November 2nd, as part of the Occupy Oakland General Strike Day and Day of Action, a large Anti-Capitalist March departed from Telegraph Avenue and Broadway. Two large anti-capitalist banners were hung prior to the march along the march route. As the march wound through downtown Oakland, numerous banks, a church, a Whole Foods, and the office of the president of the University of California were targeted with vandalism and property destruction. No arrests were made, although at Whole Foods one man in a yellow helmet took it upon himself to tackle a masked woman to the ground. The crowd pulled him off of her and the march proceeded until eventually returning to the area of 14th & Broadway.
