In the wake of Fukushima, activists throughout the world are calling for the shutdown of nuclear plants, transparency, monitoring of radiation, the protection of children, people, land, water, air from the nuclear industry. Bearing the brunt of the earthquake, tsunami, nuclear meltdown are the Japanese people, forced to face the failure of modern technology and its inability to protect them from the inherently dangerous, lethal products of an industry, shrouded in secrecy, subsidized by the public, protected by corrupt governments and facing a legitimacy crisis on the global level.
