At Johannes Mehserle's second pre-trial hearing in Los Angeles, the LA Coalition for Justice for Oscar Grant again demonstrated against racist police violence in front of the Los Angeles Superior Courthouse. After the hearing, several community activists were individually interviewed by assorted corporate media, family lawyer John Burris gave a public statement and answered questions for the corporate media, and the LA Coalition held a press conference that included Los Angeles victims of police violence and their families. Speaking for the LA Coalition were Atun Re Baker, uncle of Dontaze Storey Jr. (killed by LAPD); Brandel Randolf, brother of Brayland Randolph (killed by LAPD), seeking civil damages with jury deliberating as he spoke; Fred Hampton Jr.; Sheena Chou, friend of Michael Cho (killed by La Habra police), civil trial ended in mistrial; Erika Walker of the Oakland General Assembly for Justice for Oscar Grant; Kambui Sadiki of the Black Riders Liberation Party; and Aidge Patterson.
