On January 13th, 2010, the one-year anniversary of Johannes Mehserle's arrest for the murder of Oscar Grant, the Black Dot Cafe hosted a benefit for the legal defense of the last two of the "Oakland 100", JR Valrey and Holly Works, both of whom face felony charges resulting from Oscar Grant protests and rebellions in January 2009.
