ANTI-ZIONIST Jewish Academic JOEL KOVEL Criticizes NAOMI KLEIN on the Durban Conference

Read where the very courageous anti-Zionist (like numerous such others) Jewish-American, Joel Kovel (academic, leftist activist, author of _Overcoming Zionism_, and other books/articles), skewers Naomi Klein for her pretextually blaming Palestinians, Arab people, and other anti-Zionists, as well as Muslims, for supposedly "discrediting" the Durban, South Africa, anti-racism conference. This so, as Naomi tries to put a wedge between Palestinians, Arab people, and/vs. the world's Blacks. Naomi refuses to accept that, indeed, also, itself, ZIONISM = RACISM. Klein was cheerleading Durban II. She had a major problem with a particular aspect of Durban I; ...you guessed it: [ANTI-]ZIONISM! Naomi Klein, another (typically uncritically lauded on the left) 'anti-Occupation' Zionist Jew (what can I say: she's a Jewish white *liberal*, although she, like Chomsky, Finkelstein and all the rest of those icons who internationally dominate and control the 'pro-Palestinian discourse', probably claims to be a "leftist", probably a socialist and maybe also even a Marxist, Trotyskyist, Communist or, for all we might know, Anarchist), still apparently doesn't (like on Democracy Now, September 14, 2009) accept (or admit) the fact that, indeed, ZIONISM = RACISM. And she didn't "discover" supposed 'rampant anti-Semitism--on the LEFT' -- until the world-wide moral condemnation and protest of Israel's then onslaught in Jenin and other West Bank Palestinian cities/towns, back in April 2002 (see online, "Sharon, Le Pen and Anti-Semitism", by Naomi Klein), much like its recent onslaught on Gaza. Naomi Klein continues to be, ahem, pre-Occupied herself with Zionist Jewish -- especially Israeli Jewish -- sensibilities -- even as, then, the Israeli military continued to maraud (flash forward, Gaza style) through West Bank *Palestinian* cities/towns (shooting and destroying everythng in sight, including civil/civic institutions and records in Israel's attempted sociocide against the Palestinian people) -- and her newly and suddenly discovered/insinuatated "anti-Semitism", or "acceptance/tolerance" thereof, on the LEFT! And she didn't waste any time writing this -- that very month! This so, as left Zionist Jews always eventually do (like Chomsky's and Finkelstein's opposition to boycotts, divestments and sanctions against apartheid Israel) at some critical turn of events when there is some international outpouring of protest against some particularly egregious and utterly intolerable mass atrocity that Israel is perpetrating against either Palestinians or Lebanese: left Zionists eventually find some pretext to exigently turn on, or situationally abandon, the LEFT! Klein even subtly compares the protester to, or responsible for, France's Le Pen's anti-Semitism (even though she says that he hates Arabs more than he hates Jews)! --JA
