A Capitola man pleaded no contest Tuesday to charges he made threatening phone calls to two UC San Francisco scientists who perform research on animals. For one week in September 2007, Justin Bhagat Thind, 33, reportedly called the researchers, both of whom live in San Mateo County, incessantly, and told them they would suffer the same way the animals suffered, according to Steve Wagstaffe, chief deputy district attorney in San Mateo County.
