In the year 2000 a fire erupted on Parcel E at Hunters Point and took over one month to put out. The SF Fire Department were at a loss how to stop the underground fire. Some witnessed green and yellow flames - others saw other colors. People living in near by Pubic Housing suffered and the SF Health Department took weeks to address the situation. Then came the Federal Regulatory Agencies - and they too took a position that there were no long term affects. This is not the first time we have heard such nonsense. Parcel E is still very toxic - but some folks want to build a stadium on top of this very toxic dump.
