A groundbreaking report by Australian academic Dr Gavin Mudd warns of "Peak Minerals" - the peak and decline in mineral extraction. The report is based on production figures gathered since the beginning of mining in Australia as far back as 1829. The report predicts that at the current rate of production growth, and based upon existing economic demonstrated resources, many strategic mineral resources could be depleted by the year 2050.
