Whale conservationists had promised a protest against Japanese Whaling to coincide with the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe visit to the APEC meeting in Sydney. A long and detailed press release had been prepared and the protestors were to gather outside the Japanese consulate in Brisbane. Half a dozen people representing Whale Watch operators from Whale and Dolphin Watch Australia Inc turned up matched by an equal number of police.
