Saturday, August 25, 2007 :The National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC), a US government-funded research center at the University of Colorado, reported this week the lowest Arctic sea ice extent on record with time still left to go in the summer melting season. Arctic sea ice extent is defined as the area of Arctic Ocean that is covered by at least 15 percent ice.
